Sticks Man is a short film by Anthony “Sir George” Brightly, co-founder of Black Slate, inspired by his 1970s anti-robberman song. Originally recorded as an exclusive dub plate for the Sir George Sound System, the track grew into a dancehall anthem, reflecting the struggles and resilience of Black British youth.
The film tells this journey — from dub plate to anthem — while exploring the friendships, conflicts, and social realities that shaped it. Featuring rising talent Keon Martial-Philip and the legendary Judith Jacob (EastEnders), Sticks Man bridges generations, showing how today’s youth face the same ambitions and obstacles as those before them.
